Degree Qualifications Profile

The graduates of this program are professionals who generate knowledge in the different branches of biology, both pure and applied, capable of formulating guidelines and strategies in order to contribute possible solutions to problems related to the environment, conservation, human health, biotechnology, and the good use of natural resources; aiming to improve the quality of life of all members of society.

They dedicate to activities related to the design and implementation of research projects in the different areas of biology, among which the different components of biodiversity applied to wildlife management, assessment of environmental impact, genetics, parasitology, and microbiology can be cited.

They dictate guidelines on the use, control, and fiscalization of fauna and flora, protection and recovery of endangered species, and the design and management of protected áreas; develop research programs on human and animal health; carry out studies on genetic material and cytotoxic materials; characterize organisms through biological, immunological, biochemical and molecular assays. They are also capable of teaching both in secondary and post-secondary education, once they have received further training in teaching methods.

Overall Goals

Upon completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Show expertise in the application of the scientific method.
  • Identify problems, assess them, and propose solutions.
